Complete refurbishment of an apartment in Calpe

Complete refurbishment of an apartment in Calpe

Looking back, we would like to share one of those projects we are especially proud of: the complete refurbishment of an apartment in Calpe, in the well-known Apolo III building.

It was a medium-sized 1980s apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The client, who had only just bought the property, wanted to give it a thorough refresh and entrusted us with the complete refurbishment. It is a job for which we still hold a 5-star review on our Google profile to this day.

Planning and permits

As with every renovation, we began with the most important thing: listening. After several meetings to define the project, we took him along to the materials showroom so that he could see and choose the finishes in person. Once everything had been decided, we recalculated the quote and applied for the building permit from Calpe Town Council, so that he didn't have to worry about a thing.

A new, more spacious kitchen

The original kitchen was small and had a rather impractical utility room. We brought the two areas together into a spacious, bright kitchen. We replaced the door with a pocket sliding door built into the wall, fitted a new tilt-and-turn window, and tiled the walls in the visible areas with large-format tiles featuring floral motifs.

Living room, bathrooms and floors

The client had a glazed terrace, so we incorporated it into the living room to gain space, took down the partition wall and levelled the floor to do away with the steps. In both bathrooms we replaced the bathtubs with built-in shower trays and tiled them to the owner's taste. Throughout the apartment we laid a grey porcelain stoneware floor in an 80×80 cm format with rectified edges, which gives the impression of a single continuous surface.

Renewed plumbing and electrics

Given the scope of the works, we completely renewed the plumbing, replacing the old pipework with higher-quality materials and fitting Grohe taps along with water-saving systems. We also renewed the entire electrical installation – wiring, consumer unit, sockets and switches – together with a Calpe-based electrical firm we trust completely.

The finishing touches

Once the heavy work was complete, the finishing works followed: a plaster skim on all the walls, plasterboard ceilings in the bathrooms and, to finish, the work of our painting and decorating team. After several weeks, we went round the site with the client and checked every corner before handing over his "new apartment", which he enjoyed every bit as much as we enjoyed building it.
